Experiencing rapid growth since being established in 1986, today Markinson has offices in several locations across Australasia and hundreds of businesses who rely on their solutions to succeed. 

Markinson began as a one-man business founded by Mark Robertson in 1986 that had an ongoing vision to fill a gap in the market for integrated business software solutions for wholesale distribution companies. Growing gradually throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s Markinson achieved continuous year on year growth before embarking upon their next commitment to purchase a complimentary provider of software solutions and investing in the acquisition of Thomson Data Corporation (TDC), a Victorian provider of retail software which delivered additional staff, software development and product capability, new markets, new customers and associated revenue.

Markinson’s growth story continues following a re-alignment of the company strategy to enable the achievement of organic and non-organic growth through a range of complementary acquisitions to provide customers with increased value and additional growth. To this end, Adexio Pty Ltd was purchased by Markinson in November 2009, followed by Acuere Pty Ltd and Zeron Pty Ltd in early 2010, adding complimentary solutions, skills, locations and revenue streams across Australia and New Zealand.

In 2011 came a milestone for Markinson when it was acquired by Constellation Software through its operating group company, Friedman Corporation. As a result of the purchase, Markinson became part of Constellation’s Friedman Operating group, however a recent reshuffle now sees Markinson as part of Vela Software Group. Throughout these operating group changes, Markinson still continues to operate as an independent division.

As part of Constellation Software via its operating group Vela Software Asia Pacific, Markinson benefits from a strong corporate platform and international support, yet utilises its proud 30+ year history of local industry experience to work closely with customers to support the achievement of business requirements including managing operations, analysing information, leveraging relationships, streamlining processes and optimising delivery.
